Book if we were villains5/30/2023 The slow burn of James and Oliver was PERFECT for the entire book and the kiss at the end of the play was timed incredibly, and up until this point in the book I was cheering for the (what seemed to be) flawless arc of James and Oliver’s relationship, I couldn’t help but feel that it was forced snd rushed at the end to “kill” James for shock value. As a queer person myself I was happy to have Alexander’s character be gay without it being his entire character arc/ personality and I appreciated the representation from his character. The world building of the school and sets for the various plays was amazing and despite what other people have said about the characters I felt like I did get to know most of them quite well (minus Wren) H O W E V E R I need to rant about the representation of the queer characters in this book. This book was perfect to read next and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I recently read The Secret History and was looking to get back into the dark academia vibe.
